O’Sullivans Bar Douglas, Cork

*****

We normally take a trip with the kids on Saturday morning to O'Sullivan's (otherwise known as John O's or Sully's) in Douglas. A corner-stone of the village it's been recently refurbished and is now...

the amazing skerries mills

windmills... I thought this would be a boring day out. The ones you got ‘dragged' out on when you were a nipper. I also thought, at first, the €6.50 tour charge was a bit steep, I was [very] pleasantly surprised. This, had to be,...

Banna Thai and The Boiled White Rice Index

*****

An American client went to Banna Thai in Ballincollig last night as was absolutly astounded to be charged €2.75 for a portion of white rice to go with his meal. I know this is common practice among Thai and Indian restraunts in Ireland but when you...

food for free

book review - food for free At €17.60 - this ‘life enhancing classic' could nearly buy you a good meal and a glass of fine wine… In the scheme of things it's pricy. But is it well worth it? From revealing the...

Get your sh1t together. With PutPlace.

*****

PutPlace is now in public beta. Why should you care? Well… There's only a few certainties in life. Death. Taxes. And the loss of stuff you've stored on your computer. The loss is one thing. But the bit I really hate. Is...

Dunworley Strand, West Cork

*****

One of the best beaches in the area. At low tide there are loads of rock pools, rocks and a clean sandy beach which disappears at high tide. Clean clear water but unfortunately no life guard nor toilet facilities.

London House Hotel

*****

This low priced hotel/hostel was recommended by a friend as being good for short stays. It fitted my needs perfectly and I will be using it as my base for any future trips to London.

I love finding something great almost on your doorstep that you've ignored for years. We finally took a trip to the Model Railway village last weekend and it was a resounding success. Kids, young and old will have some fun here. I've lost...

Cafe La Potiniere, Chamonix

*****

Standard tourist fare but not bad and amazing value. Fixed price menus great. Try the fondue, raclette or pelas to get a feel for local cheesy dishes. Side salads not great. You'll leave sated and stuffed.

Mildly entertaining, not as enjoyable as her last #book, One Good Turn. And it is darker, maybe that's the problem.
